Chinese Opera – Hsinchu Market

Short post today as I just got back from a school field trip.  The field trip was my reason for not posting at my normal time – I’m sure the world will forgive me :)

This shot was taken last weekend at the Hsinchu market.  These Chinese opera shows are very popular and quite common – I was happy to sneak to the side for a different perspective this time.

  1. Wow, this sure brings back a lot of memories for me. I used to go to the operas with my grandma and siblings. Honestly, I was too young to appreciate the stories but loved their colorful customs. Great shot!

    • Thanks! I think it’s something I don’t fully appreciate mostly because I don’t understand. I mean, it starts with women dressing as men and singing in Chinese, so it’s a little hard for me to grasp :)

  2. I just love this shot! Color, comp, light and shadows… Vivid. Rock on! :)

    • Thanks! I saw your video about pocket rockets and joked to my girlfriend that it would be a good match for our space-needy part of the world. Then I realized that old women would probably make fun of me :)

      • After they run you over on their, no doubt tweaked, little scooters. :) They are fun, greatly satisfies the inner child and it impresses the neighborhood kids. LOL
