Persimmons!

This shot wasn’t used from my post last October showing a persimmon orchard in Hsinpu. It’s a good day trip and certainly popular with Taiwanese photographers.

In Hsinwu

Part of last weekend was spent in Hsinwu township and another township near Taoyuan for a family get-together. I brought the camera along and was glad I did, having visited the actual town center of Hsinwu for the first time.

The second set includes some rice fields near Yuling’s grandparents’  house. It’s interesting having visited last September/October during the harvest season and now while crops are fresh again to see how much the season changes the geography of the area.

Paradise?

First of all, I’d like to mention the fact that I broke my M-F posts yesterday by not posting as I was in Kenting with family.  We were relaxing on the beach during the day and drinking/eating at night, so I decided that I was too lazy to even get my camera out.  It was a good idea, though I did take some instagram iPhone photos – I think I might have enough of those to warrant a post on that in the near future…

…anyway, I’ll have to post this image of a “paradise” in the mountains of Taipei county from last weekend.  This pagoda was set up next to a beautiful arched bridge and everything looked very picturesque – it is near Pingxi where I was visiting the Lantern Festival.

Anyway, here’s to a relaxing weekend for all!

Peacefest (Part 2)

Here are some more shots from Peacefest.  If you haven’t already seen these, then I’m guessing you are not familiar with my photo site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jfahler.  Anywho, on to some more photos from Peacefest.

More from Sinwu

I managed to miss posting some great shots last time that I took in Sinwu.  The main reason was that when I got back on Sunday, I didn’t feel like processing them all.  Here are some more from last weekend:

The above is obviously a grassy field.  Typhoon Fanapi makes up the cloudy section of the sky.  You might notice the garbage can to the bottom right – I would’ve cropped that out, but I would’ve had to take out the beautiful sun… or the interesting irrigation ditch that kind of leads the eye.

Finishing off with a country house – much like you’ll see in rural Taiwan.  These are interesting… kind of a mix between urban architecture along with the countryside.  Much different than American styles when it comes to architecture or city planning.
